April 11, 2011: She was
thrown out
from moving train by thieves wanting to snatch her bag and
gold chain. As a result, she lost her one leg.
April 18, 2011: On this
day, she was brought to the All India Institute of Medical
Sciences for further treatment, spending four months at the
Institute. She was provided a prosthetic leg free of cost by
a private Delhi-based Indian company.
September 2012:
The Amazing Indian Award was instituted by Times Now
channel.
April 01, 2013: On this
day, she started her ascent of Mount Everest.
May 21, 2013:
She scaled the 8848 metre-high summit of the
world’s highest peak on this day; she is the first amputee to conquer Mount
Everest.
February 06, 2014:
She received Amazing Indian Award
on this day; the award was given by the Vice
President of India, M Hamid Ansari.
December 2014: She wrote
the book "Born again on the mountain", which was launched by
the Prime minister of India Narendra Modi.
2015: She was honoured with
PADMA SHRI Award by the Government of
India.
She was awarded for scaling Mount
Everest despite being physically challenged.

She donated all what she got through awards
and seminars for setting up an academy to be named Pandit
Chandra Shekhar Vikalang Khel Academy.
She is a former National Volleyball
and Football player from Uttar Pradesh.
