  • November 11, 1675:   His father, Guru Teg Bahadur Sahib Ji, was arrested then publicly beheaded in Delhi on this day under the orders of Aurangzeb for refusing to convert to Islam.
  • March 29, 1676:   After the martyrdom of Guru Teg Bahadur Sahib Ji, the young Gobind Rai (later Guru Gobind Singh Sahib Ji) was installed by the Sikhs as their tenth Sikh Guru on this day.
  • June 21, 1677:   At age 10, he married Mata Jito.
  • April 04, 1684:   At age 17, he married Mata Sundari.
  • March 30, 1699:   He instituted the Khalsa Panth at Keshgarh Sahib in Punjab He baptized the five selected followers (Panj piyare) in Pahul ceremony These Punj Piyare formed the nucleus of sikh military brotherhood called Khalsa Five special characteristics given to them were: Kesh (unshorn hair), Kachha (short drawers), Kara (steel bracelet), Kangha (comb) and Kirpan (sword) Suffix 'Singh' was added to their names Guru Grantha Sahib was declared as the future perennial Guru of the Sikhs.  
  • April 15, 1700:   At age 33, he married Mata Sahib Devan, who was later proclaimed by Guru Gobind Singh Ji as the Mother of the Khalsa.
