Date-wise Events
  • April 16, 1664:   He became the ninth Guru of Sikhs (Father of Guru Gobind Singh Ji). He was preceded by Guru Har Kishan and was succeeded by the 10th and last human guru, Guru Gobind Singh Ji.  
  • May 25, 1675:   The leader and representatives of the Kashmiri Pandits arrived in Anandpur Sahib to request Guru Tegh Bahadur for help in preserving the Hindu faith in Kashmir and to save them from forced conversions. Guru ji told them to say to Authorities that in case Guruji agrees to convert then you all shall also convert.
  • July 11, 1675:   Guru Tegh Bahadur set off for Delhi to meet Aurangzeb and tell him not to coerce the Hindus for conversion.
  • July 27, 1675:   On the orders of Aurangzeb, Guru Tegh Bahadur ji was taken into custody by the Ropar Police and was sent to Sirhind and later to Delhi.
    November 09, 1675:   On this day, the qazi ordered that Bhai Dayal Das be seated in a cauldron of boiling water.
  • November 11, 1675:   Bhai Mati Das was sawn into two pieces and Bhai Sati Das was wrapped up in cotton wool and set on fire. They both attained martyrdom on this day.
  • November 24, 1675:   He was subjected to extreme torture until he would accept and adopt Islam. But Guru ji refused to budge and consequently he was beheaded in public at Chandni Chowk in Delhi on this day.
