Australia’s Ricky Ponting. Virat alongside Shikhar Dhawan
put on 212 runs for the second wicket against the Kangaroos

third and final Test against New Zealand in Indore after the

Interestingly, all these 3 double centuries came during the
2016 calendar year. So he became the first Indian and fifth
in the world to achieve this feat. Moreover, Test average
surpassed over 50. He became the first and only player to
have an average of over 50 in all three formats of
international cricket.

hitting 4th double century in the test match against
Bangladesh at Hyderabd, Virat Kohli has become the first
batsman to score double centuries in four successive Test
series surpassing legendary Sir Donald Bradman and Rahul
Dravid. Sir Bradman and Rahul Dravid achieved the feat
in three successive series. Kohli also went past Virender
Sehwag's record of most runs in a home season by aggregating
1168 runs in the current season, with the aid of four
centuries and two half-centuries.

became the first Indian sports personality to strike a Rs
100-crore endorsement deal with a single brand. He signed an
eight-year deal with sports apparel brand Puma worth Rs 110
crore.

175th innings in the Champions Trophy semi-final against

his 18th ODI hundred in run chases, the most by any batsman
in ODI history. Kohli achieved the feat in 102 innings
during the fifth ODI against Windies, overtaking Sachin
Tendulkar who had 17 tons in 232 innings batting second.

the fastest Indian captain to score 1,000 runs in overseas
Test matches in just 17 innings. He surpassed the record of
Sachin Tendulkar who had reached the milestone in his 19th
innings. He became the seventh Indian captain to score
1,000-plus overseas Test runs.

batsman in the world with an average of over 50 across all
three formats:
- T20Is - 52.96 (highest in the wiorld)
- ODIs - 54.68 (second-highest in the world)

- August 15, 2017: He
completed his 7th Test win away from home, surpassing former
captain MS Dhoni's tally of six. He is now behind only
Sourav Ganguly's record tally of 11 out of country wins for
an Indian captain.

- September 03, 2017:
He crossed 1000 ODI runs mark in the calendar
year 2017 during the fifth ODI against Sri Lanka. This was
the fifth time Kohli crossed 1000 ODI runs in a year, having
done it before in 2011, 2012, 2013 and 2014. Sachin
Tendulkar holds the world record for scoring 1000+ runs in a
calendar year 7 times.
- On this day, he also scored his 30th ODI century
against Sri Lanka. He is now only behind Sachin
Tendulkar who scored 49 tons in his 463-match ODI
career. He reached this landmark in his 186th innings,
thereby becoming the fastest to 30 ODI centuries.
- September 06, 2017: In his
milestone 50th T20 international, he reached 15,000
international runs in just 304 matches and becoming the
fastest to do so. He became the 33rd player to reach 15,000
runs and the only one with an average of above 50.
